John Mellencamp’s Jena Song

john-mellencamp.gif

Rocker John Mellencamp has written a new song in support of six black youths accused of attacking a white school friend. A host of stars have spoken out in support of the Jena, Louisiana six - rapper Mos Def led a rally last month to promote their plight.

Now Mellencamp has dedicated a track on his new album to the accused.

The lyrics to Jena include: "An all white jury hides the executioner’s face / Oh oh oh Jena / Oh oh oh Jena / Take your nooses down / So what becomes of boys that cannot think straight / Particularly those with paper bag skin / Yes sir, no sir wipe that smile off your face / We’ve got our rules here and you’ve got to fit in."

Blogging Ahmadinejad in Tehran

ahmadinejad.gif

Even though you could get in huge trouble in Iran for saying the wrong thing, and even for not registering your blog with the government, several bloggers have commented on a-hole boy’s (Ahmadinejad’s) visit to the US last week.

——————-

Ahmadinejad comes from a country that burns the American flag, the symbol of American identity, and shouts its desire for the death and destruction of the government and its president.

American anger is understandable.

——————-

Can anyone imagine George Bush coming to Tehran and then criticizing the Islamic Republic’s policies in a speech? Is it plausible to imagine George Bush speaking about wiping Palestine off the map? Could George Bush talk about sending democracy to Tehran in Tehran? Would George Bush even be provided with security or would plain-clothed operatives be sent to “spontaneously” attack him?

——————-

Most Western news agencies like CNN and Fox News, which are branded by the regime as the agents of a Western cultural war, broadcast the speech of President Ahmadinejad live. It is interesting that none of the channels inside our country did that. What does this mean? Does it mean we don’t trust ourselves? Does it mean that we worry we might let something slip? Does it mean that we fear that our president might let something slip?

Iranian President to Speak at Columbia University

ahmadinejad.jpg

Prominent politicians, religious groups and some alumni were outraged yesterday at Columbia University’s decision to allow the accused terrorist and Holocaust denier to spew his hate on campus.

Even as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad backed off his insensitive plans to visit Ground Zero, critics blasted Columbia for inviting him to speak on Monday …

University president, Lee Bollinger, who revoked a similar invite to Ahmadinejad last year, is due to introduce the Iranian president at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs.

U.S. Airport Screeners Are Watching What You Read

spying.jpg

International travelers concerned about being labeled a terrorist or drug runner by secret Homeland Security algorithms may want to be careful what books they read on the plane. Newly revealed records show the government is storing such information for years.

Privacy advocates obtained database records showing that the government routinely records the race of people pulled aside for extra screening as they enter the country, along with cursory answers given to U.S. border inspectors about their purpose in traveling. In one case, the records note Electronic Frontier Foundation co-founder John Gilmore’s choice of reading material, and worry over the number of small flashlights he’d packed for the trip.

This is absurd, but I am not surprised at all.

New Study Says People with Saggy Pants are Freakin Idiots

dumb-ass.jpg

Are Your Jeans Sagging? Go Directly to Jail.

JAMARCUS MARSHALL, a 17-year-old high school sophomore in Mansfield, La., believes that no one should be able to tell him how low to wear his jeans. “It’s up to the person who’s wearing the pants,” he said.

Mr. Marshall’s sagging pants, a style popularized in the early 1990s by hip-hop artists, are becoming a criminal offense in a growing number of communities, including his own.

Starting in Louisiana, an intensifying push by lawmakers has determined pants worn low enough to expose underwear poses a threat to the public, and they have enacted indecency ordinances to stop it.

Since June 11, sagging pants have been against the law in Delcambre, La., a town of 2,231 that is 80 miles southwest of Baton Rouge. The style carries a fine of as much as $500 or up to a six-month sentence. “We used to wear long hair, but I don’t think our trends were ever as bad as sagging,” said Mayor Carol Broussard.

An ordinance in Mansfield, a town of 5,496 near Shreveport, subjects offenders to a fine (as much as $150 plus court costs) or jail time (up to 15 days). Police Chief Don English said the law, which takes effect Sept. 15, will set a good civic image.

Behind the indecency laws may be the real issue — the hip-hop style itself, which critics say is worn as a badge of delinquency, with its distinctive walk conveying thuggish swagger and a disrespect for authority. Also at work is the larger issue of freedom of expression and the questions raised when fashion moves from being merely objectionable to illegal.

Sagging began in prison, where oversized uniforms were issued without belts to prevent suicide and their use as weapons. The style spread through rappers and music videos, from the ghetto to the suburbs and around the world.

I don’t know which people are the bigger idiots; the ones that think there should be laws to tell people how to dress, or the imbeciles that dress like this.

Seriously! WTF is wrong with you stupid-ass, dumb mother-fuckers!?!?! Not only do you look like a fucking retard, but you are emulating losers! Wake the fuck up.

The NY Times article referenced above says this style originated in prisons. Perhaps it did. I always thought it originated from poor black people that didn’t have enough money to buy clothes that fit properly. Either way, when you decide to dress like this on purpose, do you realize how idiotic you are for going out of your way to look like someone that might be poor or a criminal?

Obviously, I feel pretty strongly about this fashion style. I feel just as strong however, and think it is even more ignorant to tell people how to dress. Yes, we see their underwear, but it is boxers that still cover everything. This is not a matter of decency, where perhaps we are really seeing someone’s ass. (They are asses for dressing like this.) This is just a matter of people publicly displaying what complete fucking morons they are. I don’t like it either, but I am intelligent enough to know that once you go down the slippery slope of legislating if someone can wear saggy pants, we aren’t far from the point of forcing women to wear veils.

As Dr. Evil would say; "Why must I be surrounded by freakin’ idiots!"

Larry Craig Says He is NOT Gay. I Say YES He Is.

hilary-rosen.jpg

Larry Craig isn’t gay. Thank god cuz we don’t really want him to be. Ick. Now that he has told the country that he isn’t gay in a press conference, I am so relieved.

I don’t want him to be gay because he is such a pathetic figure. Bearing his outrage but not his shame before the cameras today. Fine Senator. Don’t be gay. There are lots of people who don’t identify as gay but DO have sex with guys (or women) sometimes. But those people usually don’t have the power to pursue discriminatory laws against gays and lesbians or promote hostile viewpoints towards us in the halls of Congress. We all have enough information about how hypocritical it would be if someone like Senator Craig were to actually BE gay and vote in such an anti-gay manner. I won’t bother making that point since I frankly don’t think voting to hurt people is justified no matter what your sexual orientation.

Obama Girl Amber Lee Ettinger May Vote for Hillary

amber-lee-ettinger.jpg

Sen. Barack Obama’s sexiest fan respects the presidential candidate more than ever now that he has knocked her Web video, “I Got a Crush on Obama.”But “Obama Girl”actually may vote for Hillary Clinton.

On Monday, Obama said he really wasn’t that into Amber Lee Ettinger - even though the model wears panties with his name on them in the video and proclaims his proposal for “universal health care reform … makes me warm.”

Though the spoof has gotten more than 3 million hits on YouTube, a concerned Obama said his 6-year-old daughter, Sasha, “asked Mommy about it. She said, ‘Daddy already has a wife.’ … You do wish people would think about what impact their actions have on kids and families.”

Ettinger tells us: “I didn’t take it negatively. I think he’s more concerned over his child’s reaction to it. That’s good parenting.”

She still thinks the "lighthearted" video can only help his campaign. “It shows him in a positive light.” That doesn’t mean she’s voting for him.

“I have to say I’m very impressed with Hillary Clinton,”she tells Steppin’ Out magazine’s Chaunce Hayden. “I watched the recent debates and I liked a lot of her answers!”

Giuliani Worse Than Bush

giuliani.jpg

This is pretty scary. I though Rudy was cool after he kicked ass cleaning up Manhattan so well. Plus, I like that he is a Horndog.

The Republican presidential frontrunner, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, has just written his foreign policy credo for Foreign Affairs magazine. It is a truly unnerving pronouncement — even worse than Bush-ism. Not unexpectedly, Mr. Giuliani backs all of the most brazen features of the Bush administration’s global agenda. But he tosses in several deeply scary initiatives of his own that George W. never touched.

Giuliani first provides a post-facto assessment of the Vietnam War which serves as his base doctrine. He believes we could have won the war but we precipitously "withdrew" our support in 1972. Had we stayed, he says, South Vietnam would have achieved "political self-sufficiency." Instead, by caving into an "expansionist Soviet Union." we created a "weaker America." Few historians, foreign policy experts or political figures give any credence to this thesis. And, aside from the irony that Giuliani is criticizing Richard Nixon, a president of his own party for such "errors," he fails to acknowledge the fact that 58,000 American soldiers had already died for a South Vietnamese government that was hopelessly corrupt and had no popular support — and that the American public was utterly fed up with the conflict. Nor does the former mayor address the secondary point that the putatively omnipotent USSR 17 years later lost the Cold War to the apparently "enervated" USA.
