Gears of War coming to PC?

According to Epic’s Vice President, Mark Rein, it’s just a matter of time. The highly rated gore fest has been a big hit on the 360 and will hopefully make a big splash (or splatter) on the PC.

Hopefully the conversion from console to PC is solid because I’ve seen to many great console games end up average PC games.

Virtua Fighter 5 Trailer

I’ve been a big Virtua Fighter fan since the first one hit the arcades (remember them?) and I specifically bought a Sega Saturn so I could play it at home. Now, they are releasing Virtua Fighter 5 for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Sega has always done a great job with this series and so far the released videos show the same cutting edge quality with this release.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition

Lost Planet is without a doubt the best 360 game of 2007 so far. Ok, I know… big deal. We’re 2 months into 2007 jackass! Still, it is a hell of a game and could continue to be my favorite for quite awhile (Halo 3 is still this year, right?). Either way. it’s a perfect way to kill some time during these cold winter months by taking your soilder out into the freezing cold and shooting large arachnids. All that without tracking any snow on the carpet.

So who decides what is too violent?

Video games are under attack again this week as a North Carolina Senator introduced Senate Bill 87. A bill that would make it illegal to sell any violent games to a minor. It does not limit violent games to just those deemed “mature” or “adults only” by the ratings system and could include games that fall in the “teen” category.

I find this bill to be pretty scary, considering it doesn’t take into account the ratings system already in place and puts the power into the lawmakers to decide what is and isn’t a “violent game”.

360 goes black. Will it ever go back?

Rumor has it, that the Xbox 360 is about to be released in Australia with a new tan. The new version of the system has the same core elements with the exception of a larger hard drive (120 GB compared to the old 20 GB) and a built in HDMI output. Hopefully the US will get one as well, or at least a white version with the upgrades.

Rock out on your Wii

Time to whip out your Wii, grab hold of your whammy bar and wait for the groupies to show up because Guitar Hero is coming to the Nintendo Wii. The runaway hit that started on the PS2 is due for a Wii and DS release sometime in 2008. Sure, its a long time to wait, but it should be a blast to have one of the most entertaining games on the most unique system out there.

Rockstar announces Manhunt 2… politicians get wood.

Anytime Rockstar Games release a title, Washington lawmakers pay attention. Whether it is Grand Theft Auto, State of Emegency or Bully, someone is always there to jump on the “video games are ruining our children” bandwagon. I guess the fact that these games are not meant for children somehow eludes the empty heads of the nitwits we put in charge. Anywho.. it’s great to hear that Rockstar is releasing a sequel to one of their more brutal titles, Manhunt. We don’t have a release date yet (just Summer 2007), but we do know it will be released for the Wii, PS3 and PSP.
